Celestial Shower

The stars are not alone this midnight morning,
for the moon opens the door of the sky,
for the visitors so grand, and so innumerable.

Distraught are these jewels that fall from the sky,
nomads wandering carelessly through the desert.
Like tears that streak down an infant's cheek,
they draw their transient mark on the night's surface.

And for a brief moment, the nothingness is wealthier.

For the glistening rocks illuminate the nightscape.
dropping like pearls from a broken strand,
sparkling diamonds tenderly touching the darkness.

And the stars, for an instant are children,
dancing in the rain, frolicking in the heavens.
Washed by the shower of the glittering gems,
these celestial bodies are cleansed,
naked, their splendor is intensified.

And there will be wishes that are made to last a lifetime,
yet the phenomenon will not stay to share the dawn.
For the envious sun will spread its light,
throughout the heavens and into the earth.
Its brilliance will be overwhelming,
blinding us to the stars, the moon, and their heavenly guests.

But if one could see through the day sky,
the promenade that still goes on, but with Sol uninvited.
They are still there,
the twinkling stars still prancing,
the white moon still laughing,
and the the shower of lights that are waiting,
for the world to turn, and the twilight to descend,
for a chance to dance, with the midnight sky.
